  Applied to lease a unit of theirs last week. Was treated courteously enough when I spoke with them initially, but once I submitted the rental application they became a bit shady. For about a week they told me on the phone they were "preparing a lease to sign", despite the fact that I had to be ready to move in just over a week. Turns out they were courting an application submitted after mine to see if they could get that person to sign, while leaving me in the dark. When the other person presumably did agree to sign they didn't hesitate to finally call me and let me know they were pursuing the other application. Very shady and unprofessional. Also, they don't seem very knowledgeable about the properties they deal with. Basic questions I asked, e.g. what is the square footage, or what amenities are included, they couldn't answer without "getting back to me". Not to mention, almost none of this detail is included on their website or anywhere else, not even the cost of rent (which according to my lawyer friend opens them up to a host of discrimination lawsuits). Needless to say, be very careful when dealing with them. They might try to charm you to death like good salesmen do, but pay attention to the subtle things, as they'll matter eventually.

  Thank bank claims to serve communities but tows cars from an empty parking lot after 7 PM. Just another corporation trying to squeeze the last dollar they can from people.

  These days, when you can buy insurance on the internet, or a 1-800 number you don't get a real Agent. I prefer to use an agent because they provide excellent personal service and extra help at claim time. You can expect that level of service from my Agents at the Christian Insurance Agency. They are AWESOME!

  VERY unprofessional company! I can't quite understand how they are still in business. I have not dealt with them for a number of years now, but see they still are a problem. I was one that had many issues with my 3 years in working with them, but kepted it quiet. After realizing the problems are still there and ones are still being treated like you are just another dollar amount. I felt the need to share a little insight on this company. This company is very good at deception. When issues arise with your apartment it is months before someone comes out to fix it. As soon as we moved into one of there properties we discovered mold under the sink and it took them at least 4 months to get someone out to us. We soon realized they only have one maintenance guy working all their properties. It doesn't make sense to only have one maintenance guy. Long story short, they like to only assign you two keys per unit even if it's a 4 person unit. When your leasing agreement is up in a 4 person unit they expect 4 keys to be turned back into the rental office. Even though you only signed for two keys. If you don't return 4 keys they charge you $50 per key missing. If you pay your rental bill on the due date they charge you a late fee. My roommates and I kept our place spotless. We liked it very clean. Before our move out date came we received a check list of everything that needed to be cleaned before we moved out. We dedicated several days to this checklist and scrubbed our place from top to bottom. We didn't even get half of our deposits back. Our apartment actually looked better than when we moved in!! We even had the carpets shampooed. I could go on and on. I know they have some great apartments available for rent, but it's honestly not worth the time and headache they will put you through. With all the properties they have I don't understand why everyone has not gotten together and sued them for negligence. Anyone have some friends graduating from William and Mary Law that needs a first case? This company can be beat. It just needs some people to stand up against them.
